Learn with Toronto Embroidery

Learn with Toronto Embroidery

Learn by working. At Toronto Embroidery, learners work alongside us in a real, working shop — on real orders, with real customers waiting on the result — under complete supervision. This is hands-on learning: you learn embroidery, screen printing, laser engraving, DTF, and heat pressing by doing the work, not by watching from the sidelines.

Learners are not interns and are not employees. This page sets out how learning with us works, plainly, so you know what you are signing up for before you pitch.

How learning works

You learn by working, completely supervised, alongside people at various skill levels. You will work with others in the shop, see how different people approach the same work, and build skill on real production — not practice pieces that go nowhere.

The crafts you can learn with us are custom embroidery, screen printing, laser engraving, DTF transfers, and heat pressing.

On-site learning is local only; remote referral is global

On-site learning happens in person at our Toronto shop only. It is local only: you need to be able to come to the shop to learn on the machines and on live orders.

Remote work is different. Referral and sales from anywhere in the world are welcome: if you are not local, you can still refer sales through your own audience and links, from wherever you are.

Learner-brought orders

A learner may bring orders and work on them under supervision in the shop. That is part of how learning works here: you bring real work, and you do it with guidance, on real equipment, to a real standard.

Please note, stated plainly: when a learner brings an order, the shop owns the customer record and delivery. That means Toronto Embroidery is responsible for the customer relationship and for delivering the finished order, and the work is done to the shop's standard under supervision.

Quality, damages, and the cost of learning

Quality is shared: learners and the shop both own the quality of the work. Learning involves mistakes, and the cost of that learning is not put on the learner. The owner covers costs for damages and the cost of learning. You are expected to take the work seriously and to learn from mistakes; you are not expected to pay for them.

Entry: open now, paid entry later

Entry is open to anyone to start. In the future, after the pilot succeeds, entry may become paid entry. No price is stated here, no start date is promised, and no curriculum is promised. What learning covers will depend on the work in the shop and on what you bring to it, and the detail will be worked out with each learner.

Skills we are looking for

We are especially interested in people with skills or interests in social media, acting, photography, and video, as well as people with an educational development background or interest. You do not need all of these — tell us what you bring, and what you want to learn.

Pilot commission terms

For referred sales in the pilot, the terms are: 15% of attributed net sales (excluding shipping and tax, net of refunds) per referred sale, paid monthly, with one unique link or code per person. There is no discount stacking in the pilot: no audience discount code is stacked on top of commission. The commission tiers to 20% only after proven performance: 10 or more attributed sales in the pilot quarter.

How to pitch

Email your pitch to orders@torontoembroidery.com. Please include: who you are, with links, a portfolio, or socials; what you propose; what you need from us and what you bring; and when and where — whether on-site and local, or remote. We will acknowledge your pitch and reply within 1–2 weeks.

If you share gifted items or paid content as part of a collaboration, use #ad or #Gifted where applicable. This is a disclosure note, not a legal ruling.
